Blue Flower

Blue Flower is the third in my series of images shot using the zoom effect. Here I used a small aperture of f/32, shutter speed of 1/3 and an ISO of 100, then, as with White Rose, I zoomed as I took the shot. I also used the same post-production technique as with White Rose, altering the curves to leave  a simple dark background with ghostly light trails. Zoom effect produces unpredictable but often happily surprising results, and in this case I was pleased with the strong sense of movement, as if the flower were a rocket-flower shooting out of the frame heading towards the heavens.

  1. i think the minimal use of color (blue and green) makes it very soothing and pleasing..but i won’t be surprised if you come up with one that has a rainbow of colors and yet very appealing in other ways :)

    • Thank you! Yes, do give it a try — you need to use a slow shutter speed and probably take a lot of shots as the results are unpredictable, but above all be bold and have fun! And I look forward to seeing you post some zoom effect pictures :-)
